THE CHANNEL FOOTBALL CLUB WAS FORMED IN 1967 FOLLOWING THE DISASTROUS
BUSHFIRES OF FEBRUARY OF THAT YEAR.
IT WAS MADE UP FROM ADMINISTRATORS, PLAYERS, AND SUPPORTERS FROM THE OLD
KINGBOROUGH CLUBS OF WOODBRIDGE, KETTERING, SNUG, AND MARGATE, ALL OF WHOM
LOST CLUBROOMS AND EQUIPMENT IN THE BUSH FIRE THAT RAGED THROUGH THE CHANNEL
AREA. THE PLAYING COLOURS OF RED WHITE AND BLACK STRIPES WERE OBTAINED FROM
THE LONGLEY CLUB, ALSO A MEMBER OF THE DEFUNCT KINGBOROUGH ASSOCIATION, AND
WHO DECIDED TO FOLD AND BECOME PART OF THE KINGSTON F.C.AREA, AND WERE THE
ONLY CLUB OTHER THAN KINGSTON WHO DID NOT LOSE THEIR JUMPERS IN THE BUSH
FIRE. THE NEWLY FORMED CHANNEL CLUB AND THE KINGSTON CLUB JOINED THE HUON
FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION FOR THE
START OF THE 1967 SEASON.
THE RED, BLACK AND WHITE STRIP WAS USED UNTIL 1998, WHEN IT WAS DECIDED TO
CHANGE TO THE ST. KILDA FOOTBALL CLUBS NEW JUMPER DESIGN, AND AFTER
OBTAINING PERMISSION FROM ST. KILDA AND THE A.F.L THE NEW JUMPERS WERE
PURCHASED. CHANNEL HAS TASTED SENIOR GRAND FINAL SUCCESS ON A NUMBER
OCCASIONS, IN THE HUON FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION--1975, 77,78,81,83,86,88,&
