HISTORY
Season 2001
The Colts have had mixed fortunes this season, they have worked hard to match the strength of other teams. The experience of playing in the strongest competition in Southern Tasmania will put them in good stead for the future. A number of players have played both Colts and Reserves games on the same day this year and have shown heart and soul when stepping up to the senior level. Coach Simon Saville has worked tirelessly at developing and motivating his players to succeed as a team throughout the season. Blayne Bester had a great season taking out the Colts B&F award, he also managed to play well at reserves and Senior level. Congratulations also go to James Allie who was the the B&F runner up.
The Reserves have enjoyed a good deal of success during the season and made it to another finals campaign. Succeeding in the Elimination Final but going down in the Qualifying final. A drop in resources towards the latter half of the year has made it difficult for the Reserves team, and the Colts have had to step up at times, the players teaming together well. Coach Adrian Jeffries has also worked hard to bring the best out of his team. Jeremy Jones took out the Reserves B&F award from runner up Dale Fenton.
The Seniors have performed admirably all year taking it right up to the former SWL clubs. The team has gone from strength to strength during the season to make another finals appearance in September. Although losing the Preliminary Final, the team has finished in the top four and in front of all the former SFL clubs, a great result. Coach Leigh Gray has given the club a good taste of success over two of the former SWL clubs and this will put all players in a winning frame of mind for greater deeds next season. Congratulations to both Brendon Browning for winning the Seniors B&F award and runner up Shane Browning.
A special mention to Jon Bowring and Robert Thompson who represented the club playing inn the Tasmania VFL team. Robert also gained selection in the SFL Senior representative side as did his brother Michael who was selected for the Tassie mariners and the SFL junior rep side. Well done to all three for showing the way for the juniors at the club. Finally the club wishes to thank all the men and women who voluntarily give up hours, days and months of their time to make the club successful and professional.
We know who you are !
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
